Day2! work work work.

Day 2:

Type Searching!

Audience Persona:

Cory is eighteen and walking around the gift shop after he finished his tour of the smithsonian. He is excited to go back to college even though his summer break felt so short. As he is about to leave the gift shop, a book catches his eye. The contrasting bold letters on the psine and the splotch of color on the black cover really draws him in. He picks up the book from the shelf. He quickly admires the handywork and flips through the photo filled pages. He really wants to add this book to his collection, but since it is the end of his trip, his spending cash is low and the book is higher on the price range. He reluctantly puts the book back on the shelf, but not before typing the author and book title into his blackberry wishlist. Hopefully his parents will get it for him when he gets home. The next day as he boards the plane home, he starts to daydream about his other collections. His vintage records, his guitars, and of course his books.

Concept Statement:

1. "I know that i am one with beauty and that my comrades are one.
Let our souls be mountains, let our spirits be stars, let our hearts be worlds"
Being expressive is a part of the human nature. It is what drives the soul.
That statement is so simple and yet so complex, the possibilties are seemingly
endless, but somehow we each find our way. In that sense, nature is just as simple,
and just as complex. but somehow the moon rises over the mountains creating
a gentle glow that is just perfect. The wind blows the wheat fields into a perfect
rythmic order. Nature simply exists, and so does design, and they do it in harmony...

2. "The vast spread
Of darkness
That speaks of mystery
The darkness that reveals
The beauty that lies beneath
In the form of glittering
Stars, a countless beauty
That seemed to conceal
A million stories
That can make the mankind
Take a new look at life
And the majestic moon
That silently looks at mankind
Wondering how its serenity
Was disturbed by the little steps
Of a man from the beautiful earth
Yet softly smiling back
And let the world sleep
In its magical glow
A glow that soothes
The world’s senses
And forget the pain of reality"

3. What makes quality? What makes simplicity?
What makes good design? Its not an easy question to answer.
Which is why people must rely on their instincts, their human
nature that drives them forward. Its not often that we use this,
but when we do, it really pays off. When it comes to design,
every human being has the ability to recognize good work
even though they might not be able to create it.
So why not give the people what they know
in their minds. Its as simple as that.

Color Pallete:

Im looking for deep dark colors with hints and soft hues of others.
be gentle with the approach and bring them in with a gradient.
Blacks, grays, reds, yellows. Colors that really contrast well against
each other.

Moodboards:

  1. Out of your three moodboards... I REALLY like the last one. I like the simplicity that it provides the viewer and I think by adding a few colors helps it stand out and at the same time look sophisticated. I am guessing that this is what you are going for since you are working with books about photographers so I think you have a strong idea with the last one. I also kind of like the top one too, although just by looking at it I would not know that it had to do with photography. Stick with the last one!
